Key Qualifications:

• National or state certification in sign language interpretation is required.
• Proficient in interpreting spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
• Experience supporting students with varying communication needs in a K-12 educational setting is highly valued.

• Ability to partner with educators, administrators, and families to ensure accessible learning.
• Commitment to professional ethics, student confidentiality, and cultural competence.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and school-related activities between students, staff, and peers.
• Facilitate clear and effective communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ensuring full participation in the academic and social life of the school.
• Adapt interpreting modalities to fit each student’s individual needs and strive to foster an inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with educational teams to provide input on accessibility and support strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting services provided.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and state requirements.
